UF stories: Angel Bu

Angel Bu is a Spring 2021 graduate from the J. Clayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering. He came to UF from Miami, and after graduation will pursue a master's degree at MIT in mechanical engineering.

Bu chose UF, one of the only schools in Florida he applied to, after being offered the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship (MFOS), which gives a full grant and scholarship package to first-generation college students. When he visited campus, he fell in love with the architecture and how campus felt, and combined with MFOS, he committed.

"It's been amazing. (MFOS is) really a family group in which everyone kind of supports each other and helps each other out," he said.

In his time at UF, Bu was also a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and played club volleyball.

In his graduate studies at MIT, Bu hopes to pursue more hands-on experience in robotics.

"I fully believe that UF equipped me for this, especially with all the opportunities that I was granted along the way," he said.
